- Rich Spotlight: Mark Schlereth
- Grew up in Anchorage, AK and became known as “Stink” because of a story he told as a Rookie with the Washington Redskins which was supplanted after urinating in his uniform on the bench
- Only 2 schools to offer him a scholarship was the University of Idaho and the University of Hawaii
- Was almost forced to retire from football while playing at Idaho because of multiple injuries and surgeries
- 10th Round selection by the Washington Redskins in 1989
- Former teammate at Idaho, Marvin Washington, was an integral part of his career in the NFL after Marvin would have Mark attend workouts for scouts with him
- Alex Gibbs at Denver convinced the Broncos to sign Mark even though he couldn’t pass the medical exam
- Would then win 2 Super Bowls with Denver and earn a Pro Bowl appearance in 1998
- Mark also convinced Denver to sign Marvin Washington and the two would win a Super Bowl together
- Has always wanted to broadcast NFL games and so he decided to leave ESPN for Fox Sports with the opportunity to call NFL games
- More nervous to watch his son Daniel play baseball in the Majors than any time playing in his NFL career
- Words of Wisdom from Mark Schlereth: “My big thing as a parent and grandparent is to be involved, it’s quantity time, not quality time.”
