  • Rich Spotlight: Matt Schick
    • Doesn’t really have much of a downtime compared to seasons that we see in sports
    • Initially thought he wanted to do play-by-play when he realized he had a passion for sports journalism while watching some of the legends on ESPN like Dan Patrick, Chris Berman, Kenny Mayne
    • Remembers vividly filming mock news shows for his parents growing up and it was through several moves in his childhood that allowed him to push himself out of his comfort zone and try new things
    • Attended the University of Colorado becoming actively involved with Campus Ministry and Campus Crusade for Christ
    • First job after graduating was in Kearny, Nebraska before moving to Omaha doing TV and radio
    • Dari Nowkhah has helped him tremendously and has become a good friend after Dari let him know about an opening with ESPN at the ESPNU studios in Charlotte, NC
    • The irony of being in sports journalism is that you become less of a fan and at times he does miss that
    • Sports allowed him a pathway to pursue a job and career that he thoroughly loves
    • Words of Wisdom from Matt Schick: “Don’t be someone you’re not.”
